Gym Time
My normal gym time is pledged with a busy gym, feeling as
though I need to rush to get everything in before I need to run and get my
daughter from daycare. But the fact that I make it to the gym and make it a
priority in my life is a win for me. I may only get 45 mins, but I make it work
and I work hard.
My gym time has been something I’ve started to look forward
to (on most days). I have days where I can’t find the motivation to go, but I
get there, those are the days I need it the most. I seem to work harder and
push myself harder on those days. There has never been a time I’ve regretting
going.
I’ve come to realize that all the stresses of motherhood,
work, and life in general, making time for myself is something that will keep
you sane. The more time I spend on myself makes me a better mom. I know that’s
hard to understand. But, if I’m happy and more active then my daughter will be.
Gym time should be your time to have a release, don’t feel
guilty about it. When I first started going to the gym, I had to psych myself
up, I had to tell myself no one there is watching you or thinks you’re a bad
mom because you’re at the gym instead of spending that extra hour with your
daughter. No one really pays attention to you, unless you were to fall of a
running treadmill. Everyone in the gym is there for one purpose and that’s to
better themselves.
Throughout all of this the biggest thing to take away is to
DO YOU! So although my gym times is my time, my mom brain doesn’t shut off, I might
be running and thinking of dinner options. That’s just me, and I get bored
running, fast.
Don’t be afraid or get discouraged, no one in there is going
to bash you because you’re there. The trick I used till I got more comfortable
with being at the gym is to wear a ball cap. Yes, I still do some days, but it’s
not necessary a security blanket. Everyone started somewhere and you are no
different than anyone else.
Remember you’re not going to get the results you want just
by going to the gym, it’s also what your feeding your body.
